Saved again by the folks at Joe's. The car appeared to run great, had power, ABS brakes, but, unfortunately, because I was ready to buy it, it had a blown head gasket. I could have done an additional engine block pressure test, but Spencer and Evan, who could have easily convinced me to have the test performed, said it was not necessary: jump smell the coolant reservoir, and yes, there was a burned hydrocarbon smell of oil that had leaked into the coolant system. This was the second car they put the kibosh on, so they said the next test(and I will definitely keep trying, and will bring it to Joe's) was on the house.

Their service was quick and our car is running smooth. Their prices were fair. We'll be taking our car back to Joe's Garage.

Awesome company. They got me in the next day, evaluated my vehicle, and got me on the road quickly and efficiently with a solid broadcast on discrepancies with my rig. They were attentive and very good with communication, and didn't come across as those fabled mechanics do: gruff, overpriced, tell you everything is wrong and you need them to fix it, etc. They did none of that. It was a great interaction and I will definitely call on them again when the need arises.

I was impressed by Joe's Garage being able to evaluate a car i was considering purchasing on the same day I called. I was impressed, that Evan, suspicious of only 40 K on a 1997 Trans-Am, did a Carfax query. I also appreciated him explaining what was wrong and what needed to be done, and sending the picture, along with pics, to my email. I was impressed with Evan and your staff being tolerant of the owner who insisted on coming along, who was a real flamer. I had to wait @ the Wandering Goat, and it was a real chore. I know he argued with you about every issue, so I felt I had to come back to apologize for his behavior. I would not hesitate to get work done here on my new car, when I buy it, and the $50 fee for looking over a potential purchase is more than reasonable. I can just tell when a garage is good. Clean and orderly, a uniform service, and all ASE certified mechanics.
